I have a friend who said he has a 06 Yam yz 125. He can’t kick start it and when pushed (actually pulled with a lot of speed by vehicle) it will start but as soon as he cracks the throttle it looses any hp bogs out and dies. Personally I'm not familiar with two strokes, and I haven’t seen it when running, but he's a decent shade tree mechanic and I'm taking his word, one thing I noticed is the play in the timing cone shaft, almost a 360 revolution and when it does catch I can move the bike by spinning it with my fingers, doesn’t seem right to me, of course without a manual I'm lost. Is there a tensioner for the timing? Is this normal? Any help or thoughts as to where to look for the problem would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you and ride safe.

sounds like your friends bike has very low compression and needs a top end rebuild

check compression sounds very low need a new top end YZ125 have one ring piston need to rebuild more often. Due it before you break a piston and then talking a competely motor over haul.
