It is a crying shame that so many manuals were lost over the Christmas holidays: this website was such a rich treasure chest of goodness.

So, give back to the commons, I did!  I quickly checked if the site had the manuals I downloaded from last year:  one was missing, so upload I did!

I can only imaging the pain the sysop endured when he realized of the blunder that ate the treasure chest: may it not happen again.  My question for you all is this:  What is being done to solicit for manual submissions to expedite the restoration of this site to its original greatness?

FWIW, I have put out a call for manuals to the Vintage Motorcycle community (see vinmoto.com).  I hope it will bear fruit.

    Good luck with your efforts.

    John, thanks for the support.

Anyway, we did not lose all the manuals, but chosen to add them in order and check all of them. Previously we had a lot of issues with manuals being corrupted, not good and so on. As you can see now, all the manuals on the site are good to go, they work well, we also tried to create smaller files when it was possible (or even create an only file from 20 chapters of the same manual).

So, we used this huge crash to make things a lot better. We have around 1000 manuals on our computers and upload around 200 every 1-2 weeks. So, by March, we should have around 2000 manuals. Also, users like motomech, Green Gremlin, they all help (thanks guys) by keeping the spirits up around here and uploading files while me and motosteve (a friend that helps me a lot) test manuals, download and upload. We cannot do it without you, so thanks again for being here to help Smiley

So, hopefully, we will have a bigger and better database right before the spring comes so that we can all use our bikes Smiley

Also, I hope we can create a community here that can help anybody with manuals, advice on repairing bikes and so on.

Anyway, just so you all know, I am looking now for a better server (I have some opportunities), with a better service (right now I am managing the server by myself and I am not that good, as you could see Cheesy ). I hope to be able to move everything in 2 weeks time. It will be a downtime of 1-2 day max, do not worry, we are still uploading files Cheesy

Thanks for the clarification.  I feel rather silly putting out a call for manuals, however.

Please help me understand something:  have you lost manuals?

Yes. we lost some, but we do not know exactly which, unfortunately. Anyway, it doesn't really matter. We are doing our best to find all the manuals we can to add them to the site.

And your call for manuals was good Smiley The more manuals the better Smiley
