I have used these for years and I have had not 1 problem to date.
Malwarebytes at
www.malwarebytes.com is free but does not update automatically unless you purchase the user license and I believe it is for either PC or Mac users.
MS security essentials is another great free program, it updates everyday depending on the settings you use. It can be found here;
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/security_essentials/default.aspxI have used most of the other free anti-virus programs out there that boast how good they are and they have let bad things slip through but the 2 listed here I find to be the best, in the many years I have been using them as I said, I have had 0 issues
