Have there been any updates on this? I also need to 1988 Kawasaki zx600-C1 manual. At the moment I am trying to track electrical bugs in mine and the only wiring diagram I can locate is for a GPX600 (UK), which has some different features, such as the ability to turn OFF headlights and flash high beams for passing. Of course my problem is with the headlight and turn signals.

Hmmm... where do I start! I got the bike in September, I traded a KTM dirt bike for it and only had concern that it had a title and was fairly repairable. At this point I've done most of the body/paint work (all new to me) and now am trying to get the electrical done so I can get the bike outside for a few days while I heat the garage and complete the paint.
I THOUGHT all I needed was to replace the hodge-podge turn signals (attached mostly with zip-ties) with something more normal. I have the original front signals and aftermarket rear LED signal, but connecting them yields nothing. I found 3 wires hanging out the sifter side of the bike that I assume should be the flasher (no connector) as well as a 2-prong brown L-shaped connector with nothing on it. One of the 3 naked wires has 12v.
While fiddling with the signal, I figured I'd check other stuff and found the headlight not working. Further inspection shows no voltage to the switch. All 4 fuses look fine and I am trying to trace the switch wires and headlight wires without too much luck. I was hoping to get a wiring diagram, but all I can locate is a GPX from the UK, which is nice, but different.
Also, the bike will go completely dead sometimes when trying to crank it.. I mean, key on, lights on, press the starter and it clicks and everything goes dead. This appears to be the starter solenoid, which I removed, tested, disassembled, cleaned and put back... but the problem persists. I ordered a new starter solenoid, but won't be 100% sure until I put it in.
The bike does run, pretty well... I checked THAT before starting any work.
SO, that's where it stands... Thoughts? I'd be thrilled to address the problems one at a time. I have a meter and know how to use it, so I can be dangerous...  Grin

wow, sounds like you have a project.

First off, the clicking with power going out is either your battery connection, the battery its self or a bad ground cable connection at the engine.
The solenoid is only a switch to supply power to the starter even though some pull system power from the battery side of the solenoid.

Most Kawasaki's are wired exactly the same on the turn signal circuit, trace it out and eliminate the UK switch, just about any EX, ZX, ZL model manual will work, use one close to the year you have.
I would ditch the LED signals and put the OEM ones on.
The 3 wires you have loose are most likely the side stand safety switch wires.
Also, Kawasaki's headlight won't come on until the engine is running, if it doesn't come on when running either the headlight relay is bad/missing, the handle bar switch is bad, the bulb is burnt or a broken loose wire somewhere.

Thanks! I'll check into some of that. I really thought the headlight would come on with the key. As far as the click... I've checked grounds and the battery is new. This does pull power from the + side of the solenoid and the click comes from the solenoid when it fails, then banging the solenoid or messing with the wires connected to it will make things come back... I can also verify that when the power cuts out, the power at the + side of the solenoid (to the accessories) is gone, while the + solenoid battery connection is still 12v. I think the side-stand warning switch is there, but I'll need to check. My leaf blower detonated yesterday so that has to be the first project this weekend. It's always something...  :-)
