Hmmm... where do I start! I got the bike in September, I traded a KTM dirt bike for it and only had concern that it had a title and was fairly repairable. At this point I've done most of the body/paint work (all new to me) and now am trying to get the electrical done so I can get the bike outside for a few days while I heat the garage and complete the paint.
I THOUGHT all I needed was to replace the hodge-podge turn signals (attached mostly with zip-ties) with something more normal. I have the original front signals and aftermarket rear LED signal, but connecting them yields nothing. I found 3 wires hanging out the sifter side of the bike that I assume should be the flasher (no connector) as well as a 2-prong brown L-shaped connector with nothing on it. One of the 3 naked wires has 12v.
While fiddling with the signal, I figured I'd check other stuff and found the headlight not working. Further inspection shows no voltage to the switch. All 4 fuses look fine and I am trying to trace the switch wires and headlight wires without too much luck. I was hoping to get a wiring diagram, but all I can locate is a GPX from the UK, which is nice, but different.
Also, the bike will go completely dead sometimes when trying to crank it.. I mean, key on, lights on, press the starter and it clicks and everything goes dead. This appears to be the starter solenoid, which I removed, tested, disassembled, cleaned and put back... but the problem persists. I ordered a new starter solenoid, but won't be 100% sure until I put it in.
The bike does run, pretty well... I checked THAT before starting any work.
SO, that's where it stands... Thoughts? I'd be thrilled to address the problems one at a time. I have a meter and know how to use it, so I can be dangerous...
