I just recently had my vintage 1989 ex500 lock up its engine. I could only find a 1998 EX500D replacement so I bought it. I have the 89 manual but need a 1998 500D wiring diagram of the ignition wiring the stator pick up on the 500D 1998 has 2 wires for firing order where the 1989 stator pickup has 4 wires for firing order I need to know how to re-wire them so the engine will work. Any help greatly appreciated.

I don't believe there is a way. Maybe you can install the 89 stator into the 98

I decided to put a 1998 wiring harness on it with a 1998 IC igniter. I hope that works, I'm still using the 89 coils. I hope I don't run into any major snags with the wiring harness.
