78 KZ750 Twin Cutting out

I'm restoring an old barn find.Got it running great, but at any speed when you get to that happy place between accelerating and deceleration it wants to spit and sputter. When it does this i can gas on it and it clears up till i level out again. Can anyone tell me what I'm overlooking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

oldschool, it might need the carbs cleaned. Ride it and get it to the point where it acts up, slowly pull the choke lever up, if the symptom clears up the carbs need cleaning

thanks, but that was one of the first things I did getting it running. I also used new carb kits after letting them soak in carb cleaner for two days. I'll try what you suggested tomorrow on my way to work. And I'll post what happened. Thanks again.

motomech, i tried what you suggested and there was no change. after i got home i removed the sides and rechecked the diaphragms and could not find anything wrong with them. i not sure what else to try except for getting new carbs.

Mjello oldschool - did you blow out the carbs with compressed air as well, I am sure you did take out all nozzles and idle screw as well when cleaning? How does the needles look, and are you sure they came back in the right position, and have you tried balancing as well?
